Waseem — Specialist IB Tutor in Physics, Chemistry and Maths
I have spent close to thirty years teaching Physics, Chemistry and Maths, most of it one-to-one with International Baccalaureate students. My work is deliberately specialist — these three subjects, taught at the level where precision decides the grade. I teach online and in London, working with IB families across the UK, Switzerland, the UAE and beyond.
My Approach
I teach for understanding rather than drill. A student who knows why a result holds will outperform one who has only memorised the steps, especially under examination pressure. Alongside that understanding, I teach students to answer for the marks: reading each command term precisely, using the correct terminology, and carrying the right significant figures through to the final answer. Understanding earns the insight; technique secures the grade.
How the Tuition Programme Works
I usually begin with whatever a student is studying in school right now, teaching the current topic together with the background it depends on. Because lessons are one-to-one, we move faster than a classroom can — a topic that takes a school several lessons we often complete in one or two. From there we work back through earlier material, resolving the specific points a student is unsure of.
I don’t spend time on what a student already knows. Where they feel confident, we go straight to topic-by-topic past papers and test that confidence against real questions. Much of my teaching is about how to answer: writing responses that are concise and complete, matched precisely to what each question asks and to the mark scheme behind it, rather than simply writing down everything one knows.
I have taught Physics, Chemistry and Maths at IB, A-level, AP, GCSE and university level, both privately and through agencies. My academic background spans a BSc (Hons) in Textile Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Textile Chemistry, and I am currently completing an MSc in Data Analytics (Mathematical Sciences) at Queen Mary University of London (2026). I am a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a Certified Educator, with professional training from Cambridge, Harvard, MIT and IBM. I have continued to study formally throughout my teaching career — keeping my own knowledge and skills current is part of what keeps my teaching sharp. Over the years I have worked with students in the UK, UAE, Switzerland, Germany, France, the United States, Canada, Australia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India and Singapore..

Lessons are available in person or online in London, and online for students across the UK and internationally—including Switzerland, the UAE, the US, Germany, France, Malaysia, and elsewhere. Students visiting London can arrange in-person or online sessions during their stay.
